Sabbatical Ending

The end is nigh.

No, not TEOTWAWKI. The end of my sabbatical.

The fact that it’s ending is nothing I can really complain about, of course. Few jobs in this world will give you any paid leave at all to go do the sorts of things that make you happy; it’s a great perk to being a professor. I’d like to moan about only getting a single semester off (the norm is a full year), but, again, something is a hell of a lot better than nothing.

And you know what? It’s been a productive few months. I’ve completed several articles, sold a three-book series of novels to Tor, made huge headway on an academic publication series, and I’m about halfway through co-editing a casebook on the Battle of Crecy that will really make waves. I’ve crammed a lot of noise into a little room.

All in all it’s been an amazing “break.”

So now to continue working through the summer — including the preparations for Shards that I hope to start sharing before too long!
